i remember being so excited when president obama talked about his commitment to rail and that really kind of died and there wasn't a comprehensive support for that as well as other state-to-state initiatives. so i'm wondering if you have a comment on the power of states uniting around transportation infrastructure and if you also see that as one of the economic drivers. i think we all know about innovation, creativity and those things as economic drivers. but if you can't move from place to place and be mobile, that's really an obstacle for our business community. >> first, thanks for sharing your story. i think that's absolutely awesome. and i'm going to tuck that away and reflect on your comments for the rest of the day and week and month because you're really what this effort is all about. we now have some state and local leaders. we just did a phone call in the last few days we had lieutenant governors, secretary of the state, senators, representatives, mayors on the line probably numbering 300 plus and we're just getting going. so we're doing this every month having a phone call

when people talk about obama care they forget about all the positives. the fact that right now for me in college i'm not paying any higher premium. i'm allowed to stay on my parents' health insurance until i'm 26 because of obama care. when i end up finding my own plan which i do plan on doing once i turn 26, i will not be denied for any pre-existing conditions, i'm not going to be denied because i'm a woman, i won't pay any higher charges. i think those are very important things to focus on but back to your point about student loan debt, i don't necessarily see it as a trade-off that way because i know a lot of people will not be able to be covered because of their parents because they're able to stay with them until they're 26 but with student loan, that's something that's tackled in a separate way but putting the two together -- >> i don't know, charlie, it's just expenses. you all have expenses, i got expenses, and i'm just trying to figure out how this is going to work out. look, what do numbers show from this harvard poll, it's that young people ar

well well, the president is still talking about obama care. this week he made a big pivot again to economic issues talking about raising the minimum wage, extending unemployment benefits. brit, when he did this a couple of years ago, assumed the self-proclaimed manhole of champion of the middle class, it helped him win re-election in o 2012. do you think it can help democrats win in 2014? >> what he's basically saying, you heard it there was, if you don't like my plans for my agenda, give us your plans for my agenda. my sense is that that will not meet with much -- with much success. at least certainly in the house of representatives. i think it is more than anything at this point, this pivot to the economy, in particular on the issue of income inequality, is an attempt to change the subject from obama care, which has so dominated the news for the past several months. and to rout his base. which is always what he does first. sometimes that's all he's needed to do. but my sense is that he's not going to be able to make this into the big nationa

president obama talked up the law's benefits in washington today, and brushed aside rising disapproval in public polls. >> more people without insurance have gained insurance, more than three million young americans who've been able to stay on their parents' plan, the more than half a million americans and counting who are poised to get coverage starting on january 1, some for the very first time. and it is these numbers, not the ones in any poll, that will ultimately determine the fate of this law. >> woodruff: republicans said the new numbers on enrollment are cold comfort to millions who've had their coverage canceled or face higher premiums. 9-1-1 phone calls from sandy hook elementary school, during last year's mass shooting, were made public today. the seven recordings revealed police dispatchers in newtown, connecticut, urging callers to take cover, even as gunfire echoed. 20 children and six educators were shot to death by 20-year- old adam lanza. a judge ordered the audio material released under the state's freedom of information law. the suspected gunman in the deadly shootin
